My child, if you accept my words
存记我的命令, and treasure up my commandments within you,
2 侧耳听智慧, making your ear attentive to wisdom
专心求聪明 , and inclining your heart to understanding;
3 呼求明哲, if you indeed cry out for insight,
扬声求聪明。 and raise your voice for understanding;
4 寻找它,如寻找银子; if you seek it like silver,
搜求它,如搜求隐藏的珍宝, and search for it as for hidden treasures--
5 你就明白敬畏耶和华, then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
6 因为耶和华赐人智慧, For the LORD gives wisdom;
知识和聪明都由他口而出。 from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7 他给正直人存留真智慧, he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
给行为纯正的人作盾牌, he is a shield to those who walk blamelessly,
8 为要保守公平人的路, guarding the paths of justice
and preseving the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice
正直,一切的善道。 and equity every good path;
10 智慧必入你心, for wisdom will come into your heart,
你的灵要以知识为美。 and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
11 谋略必护卫你, prudence will watch over you;
聪明必保守你, and understanding will guard you.
It will save you from the way of evil,
from those who speak perversely,
13 那等人舍弃正直的路, who forsake the paths of uprightness
行走黑暗的道, to walk in the ways of darkness,
14 欢喜作恶, who rejoice in doing evil
喜爱恶人的乖僻。 and delight in the perverseness of evil;
15 在他们的道中弯曲, those whose paths are crooked,
and who are devious in their ways.
You will be saved from the loose woman,
from the adulteress with her smooth words,
17 她离弃幼年的配偶, who forsakes the partner of her youth
忘了神的盟约。 and forgets her sacred covenant;
18 她的家陷入死地, for her way leads down to death,
她的路偏向阴间。 and her paths to the shades;
19 凡到她那里去的,不得转回, those who go to her never come back,
nor do they regain the paths of life.
Therefore walk in the way of the good,
and keep to the paths of the just.
For the upright will abide in the land,
完全人必在地上存流。 and the innocent will remain in it;
22 惟有恶人必然剪除, but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the treacherous will be rooted out of it.
